Saturday Soccer

We lived in New England for twenty years and every kid played soccer in the Spring and the Fall. They would have practice once a week and they competed every Saturday morning, rain or shine. Our good friend Ray would stop at Dunkin Donuts and buy huge boxes of donuts for team and parents, we’re talking lots of donuts.

These pictures come from his first team, they were so small that the boys and girls could play together as the teams were pretty evenly matched and no one could get hurt. The coaches were saints. As you can see I couldn’t get them to pay attention for long enough to take a picture. Poor coaches had to engage and teach them for one hour twice a week, especially on Saturday’s when they were on a sugar high from all the donuts they ate!

James is in red shin guards!
