One of my favorite things when I was growing up was a fruit smoothie. We would drive to one of the many malls in Massachusetts and get one from a local chain. We eventually learned how to make them ourselves. But the real beauty of them is the fact that you can alter the recipe a huge amount to get exactly what you want out of it. Here’s the one we created inspired by that nameless chain store in the mall. I’ve found over the years that this one is hard to beat. The only alteration I’ve made over the years was to swap out ice cream for vanilla yogurt to give it a texture similar to kefir.
6 Strawberries, stems removed
Handful Raspberries
1 Banana
1/2 Cup Orange Juice
1/2 Vanilla Yogurt
Ice Cubes
Really, just throw all of this into the blender and blend until you reach the desired thickness. Add more ice to thicken it up more if desired.
