Green Spring Mountain Loop Trail

We three, me, Laura, and James, took a beautiful hike a few days ago while James was down visiting from Portland. The trail is southeast of Ashland, OR off of highway 66. It is a 3 mile loop that circumnavigates Green Spring Mountain. 3 miles is a nice easy distance and the trail is relatively flat with an elevation gain of only 334 feet, very kid friendly. A portion of the trail is on the Pacific Crest Trail, which extends 2650 miles from the Mexico, US boarder to the boarder between the US and Canada.

The Green Spring Mountain loop includes sections that go through forested areas and sections that have wonderful clear views across a valley with mountains in the backdrop. It is one of the prettiest trails we have been on in Southern Oregon. If you are ever in the area, we highly recommend this hike.

Because of the time of year, there were numerous wild flowers in bloom. This is a Trilium.

We also saw Purple Columbines.
