Another in my series of easily accessible hikes. This one was actually a decent ways outside of town from me. It’s about a 30 minute drive into the south east of town, which is actually kind of nice since I don’t make it out that direction too often.
Powell Butte itself is very interesting. The butte houses a large amount of underground reservoirs and pipes that help feed the cities water needs. There’s all sorts of informational panels all over the park to tell you about how it all works.
The hiking is nice, but it suffers a bit in this kind of weather due to a distinct lack of trees and shade throughout most of it. But the views were very nice and the trails well marked and maintained.
