Getting Healthy the Oregon Way: Cape Horn Trail

Diana and I have both been working heard lately. Me in Summer school and her on her tenure. So, I thought maybe a really good, long, difficult hike was the way to go. I looked up a few in an area I hadn’t really gotten to focus on before, the Columbia River Gorge.

There’s a great website I found called Friends of the Columbia River Gorge. It’s a great and well maintained website that details all of the various hikes throughout both sides of the gorge. The one that stood out to me was the Cape Horn Trail, which seemed to have the right combination of distance and difficulty. For me at least, Diana I didn’t really know. But I figured we’d cross that bridge when we came to it.

I probably should have been a little more careful reading through the website because the hike ended up being quite hard. Especially if you were wearing jeans and sandals like Diana. But, she soldiered through and it ended up being a really good time, we even managed to tired Freya out on what ended up being a solid 8 mile hike through some beautiful country.
