This is one of my Mom’s favorite hot weather cocktails.
Make a Simple Syrup of 1/2 sugar and 1/2 cup water. In a small pot bring water and sugar to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved. Let cool completely.
In blender add 8 oz. hulled strawberries, 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice, cooled syrup, 1 1/2 cup ice, 1/2 cup gin or vodka, blend until thick and smooth. Makes two servings, garnish with a lemon slice.
It’s still cold here in Wisconsin so when she does have a before-dinner drink, she drinks the sweetest wine available, over ice, with a pickled Brussels sprout garnish. Yup, she really drinks this and likes it.
