Favorite Restaurants: Artisan

We were at one of our olive oil events in Monterrey. We happened to hear mention of plans to dine at Artisan in Paso Robles. Given that the person was Fran Gage, author of several excellent cookbooks we took notice. Artisan, in downtown Paso Robles, is an eclectic restaurant with great decor and fantastic food. Prices are above average, but on par with the quality of the food.

On our way back down to Santa Barbara we stopped in and tried it and have been back many times since. On this occasion I recall what we ordered. We started with the chicken liver mousse, pickles, and crostini appetizer. James had hanger steak with heirloom tomato panzanella. Laura had Beewench farm chicken with rosemary polenta, cherry agro dolce, and spinach. I had wild boar tenderloin with apples, roasted onion, and 5 spice jus. Outstanding.

If you are ever in Paso Robles give this place a try.
